The following text is still unknown to many of the inhabitants of these mountains... But it will definitely have a strong importance in the following years... From Montemonaco to Montegallo, two municipalities bordering Arquata, a unique destiny links seven Churches which, if seen from the sky, make the constellation of the Virgo. Those seven Churches are all dedicated to the Virgin Mary and are located in seven particular points of the Sibillini mountains to reproduce exactly the position of the seven stars of the Virgo. This event has been discovered by researcher Giuliana Poli. Those Churches are the Santa Maria in Pantano’s Church (that corresponds to the “Spica”, the central star of the constellation), Santa Maria in Lapide’s, Santa Maria dell'Ambro’s, Santa Maria in Casalicchio’s, Santa Maria delle Cona’s, Madonna delle Gee’s e Santa Maria di Foce’s. Linking the churches with a hypothetic line, we create a trapezium: the exact position of the stars in the constellation of the Virgo. Giuliana Poli revealed that she asked to more than one hundred elderly persons of the Sibillini area and in the hamlet of Colle Luce an old woman revealed her the story of the “Seven Sisters”. In fact there is also a syncretism between the Virgin Mary and the Virgo, as a divinatory figure: that is why all the Churches are dedicated to the Virgin Mary. It seems they have been built in the Medieval Age by the Templars.
