Under the village of Arquata del Tronto, probably in the position of the ancient Surpicanum, we find the Church of the SS. Salvatore. This place is located in the middle of a forest, seeming to preserve it from modern life. During the Medieval Age this place was also an Hospital for all the pilgrims during their route to Rome. The High Mass is celebrated here only once per year, for the procession of the Crucifix of SS. Salvatore.
